This course is an introduction to the basic techniques, processes and history of relief printing. The semester will be divided into three sections. Students will produce work investigating all of the basic processes of relief printing in the first section. Students will produce work investigating all of the basic screenprinting processes in the second section. In the final section, students will produce a suite of work using the processes of their choice which could be focused in either relief, screenprint, or both. Projects will be completed through both individual and group efforts. Students should take full advantage of the collaborative community of the printshop by working with each other and participating in the free exchange of criticism and ideas that so readily occurs in this environment.
