Introduction to Printmaking

Course Description

Print! is a fast paced and energetic survey of print media and their potential applications. Students will learn printmaking’s fluid approach to image making through an introduction to the four traditional printmaking areas of relief, intaglio, lithography, and screenprint as well as developing contemporary digital/post-digital processes. Individuals will be challenged to think critically about their work relative to the historic context and contemporary critical theory of printmaking and the art world.

Projects will be completed through both individual and group efforts. Students should take full advantage of the collaborative community of the printshop by working with each other and participating in the free exchange of criticism and ideas that so
readily occurs in this environment.
